IGGY Aug., 2010

IGGY has all the elements of a very good gifted education programme. Beautiful to see the unravelling of talents among our Brunei student representatives, especially how Syasya has grown in confidence. Lots of possibilities of cross country networking and the focus on global citizenship. A very positive first hand insight into the preparation and organisation behind the planning involved in designing gifted education programmes. Brunei BOLEH!

Updates from the Uni of Warrick

Updates from our IGGY Participants:
Eager Beaver Numero Uno:
Hello! :)
The flight was smooth and we had a nice sleep last night but we're still jetlagged. It still kicks in whenever Brunei turns to night - we'll start feeling tired then, but that's okay, we're all suppressing it inside us. The weather isn't very summer-ish (even the mentors agree!) but it's nice and cool. It feels so nice to have that cool breeze on your face. It is so refreshing!
Our classes started today and it was quite fun. The teacher kept it interesting, seeing as how science is a serious subject.
There are a lot of Bruneian students here (from JIS) so Brunei is actually quite famous here.
I'll just stop here...I'm not sure if I'm supposed to blab that much...but thank you for reading till the end!
Shakespeare reports:
Hi=) The weather here's really cold at times but I think I'm getting pretty used to it. The flight was really long and really tiring and the journey to the university was also really tiring. I made a really big mistake of bringing a huge and heavy luggage and I had to lug it around all the way to our hall of residence. My room's really great! It's got a really beautiful view of Tocil. The food's delicious here and my classes are amazing. We have lots of games and activites, it doesn't even feel like a class. Unfortunately, I'm still not pretty used to the time difference and I really feel tired at nights now but I'm working on it.
And we are waiting to hear from the other three.

Arrival at Uni of Warrick

Arrived safely at Heathrow Airport at 6.10am on the 1st of August.
All 5 students were chirpy and excited and I do hope their excitement will energise them through out today.
The Senior Mentees were waiting for the IGGY scholars at the airport and they were groups of other students, from Malaysia, Hong Kong and JIS as well.
Our students then had a long coach ride and arrived at the Uni where we were waiting for them, as we were driven up in a MPV.
We met with the Organizers and Seniors who briefed us on what to expect of the programme and will keep us updated on the students' programmes.
We were not invited into their Tocil residences and had to leave after our short visit as the programme was about to start after the students had checked into their rooms.

Student Participants at IGGY August 1-14, 2010

Hi Guys Just a gentle reminder to bring an item for show and share at IGGY. Not too bulky and heavy so that you leave space for your "gifts" in your bag on your way home. Do read up on the areas you are signed up for and pose those challenging questions to explore while you are there. Okay, can I also have some response from our participants too... Cheers till Saturday, 31st July, Cikgu Jennie
